| The Michiana Military Support Network is a collaboration of organizations in the South Bend/Mishawaka Indiana area, with a mission to build community awareness and understanding of the issues affecting veterans, service members and military families in our local communities. Since 9-11, Indiana has supplied military personnel, many from our National Guard and Reserve forces in the efforts of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The National Guard and Reserves serve on a part-time basis in the military. However, when called to duty, these brave men and women, from our communities, deploy in efforts around the world for up to 18 months at a time. Their families remain in our communities. The current situations, in Iraq and Afghanistan, also bring to light the sacrifice of those who have served in past military conflicts. As a community we have the capacity to reach out to our veterans, military families and current service members to embrace their experiences and create opportunities to serve them just as they have bravely served us. If you would like your organization to be one of our community partners we would like to invite you to participate in collaborating ideas and preparing our communities to identify ways to support this unique population. Together, we can build a lasting community impact to honor those who sacrifice so much for our community and our country. | |
